Proper hand washing - Sufficient for hand disinfection?

The basis of hand hygiene is, of course, hand washing. Hardly anything is more obvious to prevent bacteria, viruses and fungi from spreading and infecting.
Above all, it is important to wash your hands regularly. This applies not only after dirt-intensive activities, but also after many errands of everyday life - for example, after spending time in public transport, restaurants, supermarkets and anywhere where many people meet and touch many things in turn.

How does effective hand disinfection work?

A prerequisite for reliably effective hand disinfection is the thorough washing of hands - for very practical reasons; if there is still dirt residue on the skin, viruses and bacteria can adhere underneath, while the hand disinfectant does not reach the affected areas and cannot develop its effect.
So first wash your hands thoroughly. Then spread the hand disinfectant on the surface of your hands. Let the hand disinfectant work for 30 seconds and only rinse off afterwards if necessary. It is practical to use handy dispensers for on the go and at home.
