ARDAP Spot-On Tick and Flea Protection with the active ingredient pyrethrum, also called chrysanthemum, from the chrysanthemum flower is a highly effective agent for external use on ornamental birds and carrier pigeons. Pyrethrum is known for its repellent and thus preventive effect against infestation with insect pests such as ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Ixodes ricinus) and mites (Ornithonyssus sylvarium, Dermanyssus gallinea). The single application of ARDAP Spot-On Tick and Flea Protection protects birds and racing pigeons reliably and for up to 4 weeks. Pyrethrum is obtained as an extract from the chrysanthemum flower, which is largely cultivated and harvested in the Kenyan highlands. The repellent effect on insects has been known for thousands of years: Already in ancient China and Persia, this active ingredient was demonstrably used and was widely known and popular here as "Persian insect powder" or also "Dalmatian insect powder" for use on humans and animals.
The ARDAP Spot-On Tick and Flea Protection contains pyrethrum (pyrethrins) as the exclusive active ingredient, which is not to be confused with the synthetically produced active ingredient permethrin (pyrethroids).
It is important to keep your bird's cage, aviary or pigeon loft and the surrounding area clean at all times to keep away pesky vermin such as fleas, ticks, mites, etc. To do this, we recommend Bactazol Universal Cleaner for the animal environment with a fresh lemon scent and the Bactazol Disinfectant for cleaning the surfaces.
Application:
ARDAP SPOT-ON should only be used after the 1st moult, according to the chart below. For dripping onto the skin using a pipette. Part the plumage and apply the amount to be administered with the pipette drop by drop directly onto the skin in the neck. ARDAP SPOT-ON can also be applied with a cotton swab. Do not use in young animals under 3 months of age. Do not use on sick or convalescent animals. Animals with skin lesions, especially at the intended application sites, should be excluded from treatment. Temporary itching may occur at the site of application. Occasionally, feather loss or blistering at the application site has been observed.
